Today I am very happy to introduce to you Josh Acanfora. I met Josh through Twitter and we have been able to develop a deeper relationship outside of the social world. While I have yet to meet him in person I am fortunate enough to talk with him almost daily. I love his heart and his outlook on like. He has a great passion for living out his belief’s as well as being a devoted husband and father. You will notice that Josh has a great sense of humor as you read through his answers, something else I really enjoy about him. He and his wife recently celebrated in the birth of their new son and so much of his time is not turned towards taking care of their newest addiction.
Where did you live growing up?
I grew up in Charleston, South Carolina
Where do you and your family currently reside?
I still live in the great town of Charleston
How long have you and your wife been married?
We were married on June 11th 2011
What is the one thing you love most about your wife?
She is a wonderful dedicated wife and even better mother
How would your wife answer that question?
The love and affection I have for my family
Being newly weds, what has been something you have worked hard on?
Communication and plenty of time together
What is one of your favorite things about being a parent?
Seeing my children happy and the lessons God teaches me through them.
In your opinion how has your spouse made you a better person?
She has helped me to not be so impulsive.
What is your current occupation?
I am a courier. I deliver packages for a large express package delivery company.
What are some other jobs you’ve had?
Pet store, Remodeling, Teamster (driver for a movie production company), I worked in a Kosher deli once. That was pretty cool.
What was your very first job?
Bussing tables at a local BBQ joint.
What lessons did you learn from it?
People eat a lot of food. People waste a lot of food. And smoking copious amounts of marijuana does not affect my ability to bus tables. (I don’t smoke pot anymore lol)
Of all the jobs you’ve had, which job have you enjoyed the most.
I love what I currently do for a living.
What do you do to relax?
Tweet, nap, watch TV, and read. When I relax I try to do as little as possible. If I can go a whole day and never get out of my pajamas I consider that winning.
What hobbies/interests do you enjoy?
Walking, writing, reading, music and cigars.
What music/songs are you shuffling around on your iPod/iTunes or Spotify?
Sunny Day Real Estate, Welcome To The Welcome Wagon, Jets To Brazil, The Beatles, Texas In July, As I Lay Dying, Bluegrass, Ragtime Piano, John Michael Talbot, Lenny Smith, Dropkick Murpheys, Neutral Milk Hotel. Lots of stuff.
What books are on your nightstand?
The Secret of The Strength: What The Anabaptist Would Tell This Generation by Peter Hoover, ESV Bible, Jesus For President by Shane Claiborne
How are you connected or involved in your community?
Mission outreach through church. Other than that I’m not as involved as I should be.
What are you most passionate about?
Justice and mercy
Not to put you in a box, but what words would define you as a person?
One word – Awesomeness
Why did you get into blogging?
You got me into it Chris….It’s your fault I’m blogging.
What is the response from folks when you share with them you are a blogger?
Usually encouragement. That’s my main goal. To be a voice of encouragement that builds the Church up.
When it comes to social media, what is your purpose for using it?
Connecting with cool people. Build meaningful relationships.
What are the positives and negatives you have found using it?
Positive: There are some really cool uplifting people out there. Negative: Some people are just negative and want to complain.
What do you find humorous?

Who in history do you admire the most?
This is a very Sunday school answer but I’m gonna say Jesus.
What is something that moves you to tears?
Cutting onions and injustice.
Do you feel like you are living out your calling?
No. Not at all.
When you look in the mirror what do you see?
Someone being refined by God
How has God transformed you the most?
I worry less. I’m very forgiving and merciful. Perhaps too merciful at times.
In your opinion what defines a real man? Who helped to shape your ideas and opinions in this? Did your Dad or other key men play a key role in helping shape your identity as a man? What do you hope your kids will see that was lived out most in you? When you think of yourself as an elderly man, what do you see, what kind of man do you hope to become?
Never dwelled too much on the whole man thing. I guess a real man takes care of his wife and kids. I have no idea what kind of elderly man I will be. Probably a deaf one.
Name two things on your bucket list?
Go to Ireland and preach a sermon
If you were to show up at your own memorial service, what you do you hope people would say about you? What do you hope to be remembered for?
Good things I hope. I want to be remembered as a good dad and dedicated husband.
